THE ALSIP-MERRIONETTE PARK LIBRARY CURRENTLY HAS THE FOLLOWING JOB OPENINGS:

Full-Time Youth Librarian-The Alsip-Merrionette Park Public Library seeks a creative, innovative, tech-savvy librarian to join our outstanding Youth Department.  The position requires an innovative and motivated individual to create, implement and present programs for children ages birth-8th grade and related programs for caregivers and teachers.  This position provides outreach, reference and reader's advisory services to patrons of all ages,  and works to plan and promote library activities and services

MLS from an ALA accredited program preferred.  Excellent oral and written communication skills; extensive knowledge of children's literature; commitment to outstanding customer service, knowledge of current trends in  library service; proficient in Microsoft Office suites and current library technology including social media applications; ability to adapt to a changing, fast paced work environment and job requirements.  Spanish language proficiency a plus.  Full-time, 37.5 hours/week-includes evenings and weekends; non-exempt.

Part-time Youth Services  We are looking for a few flexible, customer service oriented individuals to work at our busy reference desk, perform collection development duties, outreach initiatives and contribute towards our creative programming schedule.  Nights and weekends required, up to 19.5 hours/week as needed.  Must enjoy working with children and families.  Duties also include: answering phones, reference questions, readers advisory and trouble-shooting computer issues.  Knowledge of children's books necessary.  Spanish language skills a plus.  MLS preferred, but will consider LTA or higher, based upon experience; non-exempt.  To apply, please fill out a library application, as well a resume and cover letter, and send to This email address is being protected from spambots.
